New children’s app for
DR’s Ramasjang universe
In 2015 DR decided that it was time for rethinking their Ramasjang app and relaunching it in a new version. The project was put out to tender in spring 2016.
Through many years, Heyday has helped the editorial staff at Ramasjang with several digital solutions including a new website, an Advent calendar, a listening universe, “Sikker og Søn”, and small games. Therefore, it was an obvious opportunity to strengthen the cooperation with the development of a new Ramasjang app.
DR’s vision was to increase updates of the content and third-party games. It had to be a possibility for the editorial staff to add and update the app without involving a development department. Furthermore, they had a wish to increase the interaction between the different parts and elements of the Ramasjang universe.
Heyday suggested a more overall and flexible solution that wouldn’t only accommodate DR’s overall wishes but also create a more flexible platform for the editorial staff moving forwards.
The solution where a modern web technology and a hybrid app-solution with a belonging tool for controlling the content made for the editorial staff. The editing tool signifies a central part of the solution and makes it possible to quickly make changes across units and have the changes tested and published. Additionally, the editorial staff are able to make individual user tests and plan the content updates plus build scenes, screen displays, animations, and interactions in a drag-and-drop interface.
In the future all of these elements will help strengthen DR since the editorial staff are able to make changes in the app without involving any developers. In order words, DR are able to carry out their ideas and test those ideas directly on mobile units in an easier and timesaving way. The goal was to create a tool that not only solved the present tasks but also is able to deal with the problems of tomorrow.
