OJ Electronics
New app makes it possible to control the home on the move
The challenge
OJ Electronics had a desire to develop an IoT (Internet of Things) app that would let the users control the heating system in their home when on the move or on the couch, in an intuitive and easy way. The app should contain a range of different features that could give the users access to the heating system in a reliable and easy way. For the users, this would mean notable savings on heat bills and give them an overview of their current consumption. And who does not want to be able to heat up the guest room in advance, if family or friends are coming over unannounced.
The solution
The solution became an IoT app that could talk with OJ MicroLine® UWG4 Touch thermostats in the home. One of the advantages of this system is the list function, where the thermostat adjusts the level of heat to match the usual schedule, itself. If there is a need for flexibility, the app can skip the schedule and adjust it entirely as the user wish. That means that you can turn up the heat if you get home earlier than intended, in a fast and easy way. You are also able to turn off all the heat simultaneously if you need to clean the house and open all windows.
The IoT app for OJ Electronics is also able to put the home in vacation mode. It means that with a few clicks you can schedule the heat adjustments in the house so that the heat will not go crazy while you are gone. At the same time, you will be sure to come home to a nice and heated home.
Last, but not least the users can see their energy log – where they can monitor the heating system and see previous and current consumption, no matter time and place.
The app is kept in a simple and user-friendly design where a thorough UX work is the base of the IoT app’s architecture. The app is easy to navigate and very intuitive to use, so you, with a few clicks, can adjust your heat system at home.
